FAQs

WHAT CAN I CLAIM?

As an osteopathic patient, you may be able to claim a rebate from a range of government agencies or private health insurers. Requirements and rebates vary across programs so please discuss with your GP, case manager, or osteopath.

No, you do not need a referral from a doctor to see an osteopath. If you are eligible for a management plan (TCA) your GP can refer you for treatment which will reduce the cost to you.

Wearing loose-fitting and comfortable clothing to your appointment is best (such as a singlet and shorts). Bring along any relevant documentation or imaging regarding your injury.

This depends on lots of factors however as a rough guide new and acute injuries can see improvements in 1-3 treatments whilst chronic or persistent pain can take a bit longer to change. During your initial consultation you will be given a preliminary timeline and we can develop a plan together that suits your needs and goals.

The specific techniques used for your treatment will depend on your complaint. Some techniques can cause pain or discomfort however your preferences will be taken into account and a more gentle approach can be used if you prefer.
